Cairngorms National Park
The Cairngorms is the largest national park in Scotland. Located in the Scottish highlands its vast expanse spreads over 64,000 acres. That’s 40% larger than the whole of the Lake District national park.
High points of Britain
Five of the Six largest mountains in Scotland reside in the park. The park has 52 peaks that are in excess of 900 metres high. Ben Macdhui is the highest peak with in the Cairngorms which is over 1300 metres above sea level. It is the 2nd highest point in Britain. The area is also the most extensive land area in the UK that’s above 1000 metres.

There are many activities in the area to appeal to all ages and all levels of fitness. Great walking and hiking opportunities are plentiful with such a large area of spectacular countryside.
Skiiing
There are 3 ski centres in the area which provides great holiday activities in the winter months. Skiing can be found at CairnGorm Mountain, Glenshee and The Lecht.
Water Sports
With a great choice of lakes, rivers and other water courses there is plenty of water based activities to enjoy in the area. From Sailing and Windsurfing to the adrenaline rush of white water rafting and river tubing. For more relaxed water based hobbies such as fishing and boating.
Horse riding and pony trekking
There are plenty of horse riding opportunities for all, day long treks or just a few hours. It’s a fantastic way of getting close to the wildlife and seeing the wonderful landscape.
Rare wildlife
There is a vast range of rare wildlife that have made the Cairngorms their home. In fact 25% of Britain’s threatened animals have populations living here. It’s a great opportunity to get close to these rare animals including the Scottish Crossbill, Golden Eagle, Osprey and many other rare birds. You will also see that the area is one of the last few places where you can see red squirrels.
